This is the most beautiful topic in the world – said PhD Martina Bienenfeld, CEO of the Zagreb Tourist Board, in the café at the Hotel Amadria Park, an attractive venue that hosted an event related to development and promotion of Zagreb gastronomy. But apart from the attractiveness of the topic itself, there are a number of reasons why the Zagreb Tourist Board systematically works on promoting the capital’s gastronomy. Recent research shows, Martina Bienenfeld pointed out, that 50 percent of travelers first make a reservation at a restaurant in a certain city, and only then buy a plane ticket to that destination. Also, 89% of millennials want to explore local flavors and gastronomy on their travels.

"Gastronomy is an important part of Zagreb's identity because through it we get to know the city, its tradition, culture and way of life. The uniqueness of Zagreb's offer is precisely the combination of local flavors, authentic places and contemporary culinary creativity. We want to make this diversity even more accessible and recognizable, so that it is one of the key motives for visiting our city," said Martina Bienenfeld.

Thus, Zagreb received its first independent edition of the prestigious international gastronomic guide Gault&Millau Croatia - Zagreb 2027. The edition in Croatian and English is dedicated to the rich, diverse and increasingly dynamic gastronomic scene of the Croatian metropolis and brings a selection of 108 of the best restaurants, popular gastronomic addresses, pastry shops, cafes and bars.

"As in everything, so in gastronomy, Zagreb is Croatia in miniature: we have the cuisines of all Croatian regions, but also a diverse offer of international restaurants, we have a tradition of cafes, coffee shops and pastry shops, and numerous new bars. This guide, which has been present in Croatia for 10 years, wants to present you with the best of everything" - said Ingrid Badurina Danielsson, director of Gault&Millau Croatia.

Rudolf Štefan – owner and chef of the Šibenik restaurant Pelegrini (1 Michelin*, 4 toques Gault&Millau Croatia) is one of the founders of the Delicious Zagreb platform, and he enjoys talking about gastronomy in the metropolis.

"Zagreb is a city tailored to the needs of each guest, everything is within reach, it has a relaxed atmosphere and is connected to three wine regions. That is enough reason for guests to get to know it step by step, and remember it by its flavours," said Štefan.

The new content of the Delicious Zagreb platform connects food with everyday life, creativity and the urban character of the city. Well known chef and culinary author Ana Ugarković, in addition to the already popular series “Ana Cooks, Zagreb Loves”, brings a new short format called “Mljac” (Yummy), in which she explores flavours and culinary creativity in her own unique way.

Toni Janjiš, meanwhile, presented a new series, "Sit and Eat," in which he will show how a love of cooking fits into a busy city life, with ideas for delicious dishes that don't require much time to prepare. For example, for the typical Zagreb dessert - šnenokle.

Also, there are some new gastronomic routes of Zagreb and its surroundings, which invite you to discover local flavors, while the section "How to be Delicious" brings useful advice and examples of good practice for restaurateurs.

Zagreb's gastronomy is increasingly present on the international scene thanks to the cooperation of the city's Tourist Board with numerous platforms that present Zagreb through various tourist experiences, with a special emphasis on gastronomy.
