Magdalena SENJKOVIĆ
Chef : Senjković wine barPresentation
Magdalena Senjković's culinary empire is the Wine Bar in the small town of Nerežišća, in the middle of the island of Brač, where she and her husband, the famous winemaker Saša Senjković, opened a wine tasting room and restaurant a few years ago, where her creativity and her cooking skills came to the fore. Everything started without great pretensions. Magdalena prepared small snacks that accompanied the wine tastings. Soon word got out that in addition to excellent wines, Senjković also offers excellent dishes. Although she is not a professional cook, the young woman has shown an exceptional passion for this demanding profession from the beginning and has fully dedicated herself to cooking. In order to improve her "innate" talent by adopting cutting-edge technique, she decided to do a kind of internship with the giants of Croatian gastronomy, Rudi Štefan and Bernard Korak. They were both delighted with her abilities and above all the enthusiasm she showed in the kitchen. Its guests are also delighted, who come to Nerežišća in increasing numbers to enjoy the combination of excellent wines and first-class gourmet creations of the Senjković family. In their Wine Bar, small snacks can be tasted and shared, and in the charming restaurant, with a minimum number of tables, which need to be booked much earlier, they serve tasting dinners. With perfect wine pairing, these are unique gastronomic experiences that can be classified in the sphere of top bistronomy and even fine-dining without exaggeration. What makes Magdalena's "small" dishes special is that they exude local tradition and local cult ingredients, such as Brač lamb and sardines, and at the same time burst with creativity in performance and presentation. Always cheerful and smiling, Magdalena Senjković is the winner of the Gault & Millau Croatia Chef of Modern Traditional Cuisine 2026 trophy.
