Gault&Millau's review 2026

Lunch or dinner by the sea, in a restaurant of the Aminess hotel group , can be a good reason to visit 7 Seas by Matija Bogdan. It is located in one of the most beautiful locations in Njivice on the coast, on the edge of a pine forest, and offers an interesting gastronomic experience. The concept of Matija Bogdan (G&M Trophy Great Chef of Tomorrow 2021) can be described as modern Mediterranean fine dining with an emphasis on local identity. Therefore, his approach is based on seasonal ingredients of local origin: Adriatic fish and seafood, island lamb, aromatic herbs, olive oil and vegetables, and that he interprets tradition through contemporary culinary language. The menu features combinations such as Adriatic prawns with tomato and pistachio consommé; slow-roasted island lamb with various types of local and French cheeses and herbs; modern desserts with the aromas of Mediterranean herbs. The aesthetics of the dishes also follow contemporary gastronomic trends: the plates are elegant, visually clean, and the food is served without excessive complications. Soparnik in the chef’s style, presented as a signature dish , is a blend of Lika cheese and Swiss chard, slow-roasted lamb belly topped with chimichurri made from local herbs. It is also served with two creams made of about twenty (secret) ingredients, and recommended to eat by fingers. In addition, the restaurant has an extensive wine list with an emphasis on Croatian wineries, mostly from Istria and Kvarner, and offers signature cocktails and a high level of professional service.
