Gault&Millau's review 2026
Selected
One of the most famous pastry shops in the centre of Zagreb gained its status thanks to the creative owner, Žakline Troskot (Gault Millau 2021 Pastry chef of the Year). The miniature shop at the foot of the Cathedral is decorated like a Parisian café, there is a covered terrace across the street and a boutique in the neighbouring building where you can buy some of the sweets and cookies, while a more modern pace is located in the Maksimir neighbourhood (the large park in the Eastern part of Zagreb). The offer is the same at all three locations – top -notch desserts (and some savoury options), which are complemented by new seasonal creations. The trademark is the Amélie cake – covered by almond flakes, with vanilla cream and forest fruits – and there are also Joséphine, Chocolat Noisette, Mousse au chocolat, macarons and various other desserts inspired by high Parisian pastry. The cakes are made with carefully selected ingredients such as Belgian chocolate and French almond flour, and the offer is complemented by seasonal special cakes for the holidays, heart -shaped cookies for Valentine’s Day, handmade ice creams in the summer. With its desserts and the occasional savoury selection – mainly various quiches with crispy crusts and soft insides – Amélie is a popular place to socialize and drink coffee.
