Gault&Millau's review 2026

One of the most renowned traditional restaurants in the wider Slavonian region, Aquarius has been frequently fully booked for over 30 years. The quality of its cuisine and the authenticity of its offer are confirmed by the “Flavours of Srijem and Slavonia” label. From a gastronomic perspective, the restaurant strikes a careful balance between preserving Slavonian tradition and embracing more contemporary culinary trends. Located in the heart of the Spačva forest, the interior is designed in an eco-ethno style. Brick walls, wooden tables and chairs, and vintage display cabinets filled with tableware create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The main dining hall can accommodate up to 180 guests. The kitchen follows its own recipes, with dishes prepared fresh “to order.” The restaurant is best known for its river fish specialties and grilled meats, while pizzas are also available. The “Farmer’s Plate” (breaded pork loin stuffed with kulen, cheese, and fried bacon, smoked sausage, crispy homemade bacon, and fried potatoes) is an excellent choice for those planning to burn at least 2 – 3 thousand calories afterward. Ante’s gourmet sabre (marinated beef tenderloin, pork tenderloin medallions, chicken and turkey breast, served with vegetable rice and homemade fried potatoes) is both hearty and flavorful. For dessert, we recommend the traditional tački filled with plum jam, as well as a selection of homemade jams served with flatbread. The wine list is dominated by labels from Slavonia and Baranja region, rounding off the experience of local flavors.
