Asia, considered the oldest Chinese restaurant in the city, has been maintaining the standard of quality for decades. During all this time, they have changed several locations until they finally settled in the northern part of the city, near Zvijezda. In addition to the large interior space decorated like traditional Chinese restaurants everywhere in the world and divided into two dining halls, they also have a smaller, partially covered terrace that is used during the summer months. The extensive menu does not change and contains all the dishes they offer, arranged by groups: from cold appetizers to soups and various dim sum, from seafood (fish, shrimp, squid and cuttlefish) to poultry (chicken and duck), meat (pork and beef), tie pan dishes, tofu and vegetables (for vegetarians and vegans). Each subgroup has a dozen dishes with various sauces, and each dish has its own number, which facilitates the communication between the polite and friendly Asian staff and the guest. Among the many dim sum, we like rice dumplings filled with prawns and those filled with minced meat and vegetables. We also tried the traditional corn egg soup, which had a neutral taste, while the seafood one was really delicious. Crispy Asian-style fried beef with a dense sweet-sour and hot sauce is a always a good choice, as is the spicy tie pan Mongolian beef. Asia is a safe address for all those who crave Chinese food. The proof of their quality is that the restaurant is visited by numerous Chinese people, tourists or those who live in Zagreb. Reservations are required on weekends.
