Asia is one of the favorite restaurants of the people of Zagreb, who have considered it a traditional gathering place for Sunday family lunch for years. Many have already forgotten that Asia was the first Chinese restaurant in the city, which was opened 35 years ago, in the most difficult period of wartime. Thanks to the great effort and persistence of the owner, Mrs. Xiaotong Chen-Li, it has won over a wide audience of Chinese food fans. The traditionally decorated, spacious Chinese restaurant, with two large halls and a covered terrace, has perfectly blended in with the space of the former legendary Tinča Inn. The menu is extremely large and divided into several sections: from cold appetizers to soups and various dim sums, from seafood (fish, shrimp, squid and cuttlefish) to poultry (chicken and duck), meat (pork and beef), tie pan dishes prepared in a hot pan, tofu and vegetables (for vegetarians and vegans), and each dish, as in all Chinese restaurants around the world, has its own number. We especially like their dim sum, a kind of Chinese ravioli, with meat, fish or vegetable filling in thin dough, which can be steamed or fried. And the Phoenix king prawns, breaded in almonds, are also fine. We enjoyed the spicy Mongolian meat on the tie pan, roast beef baked on a hot iron plate. They offer proper house wine, Malvasia or Chardonnay, and the Asian staff is quick and efficient. Good quality dishes and reasonable prices are an additional reason to visit Asia Restaurant.
