Bar&Ton Rougemarin has opened on the ground floor of the Museum of Contemporary Art. Thanks to its large glass walls it has an amazing view of the two largest avenues in New Zagreb. The interior design is playful, somewhat industrial, but in various cheerful colours in the style of the place. From the moment we arrived, we were served by a very kind, professional and friendly waiter ready to help about the daily offer. The dishes are modern and creative. You can choose from various portion sizes, and we liked the idea of smaller bites for those who want to primarily enjoy their cocktails, especially in the later hours. We tasted a very good burger with a sweet potato brioche bun and škripava cheese as well as the špeksplosija (explosion of speck), made of thinly sliced, beautifully arranged rump steak with bacon on a caponata covered with chimichurri sauce, which melted in the mouth in this playful combination. The Roast beef pizza, i.e. pinsa, disappeared in a record time, although it is very filling, while the tuna steak Milanese in breadcrumbs sounds unacceptable at first, but when you taste the combination of soft, perfectly medium -rare tuna with a crispy crust, you will have to change your mind. From the sweet side, we should mention the lemon tartelette and carrot cake, which we wanted to order again. We would like to highlight some other dishes as the Skradin risotto and side dishes that can be a meal by themselves, such as potato pavé and polenta with škripavac. A touch of the original restaurant Rougemarin has been brought to Novi Zagreb, but in a more modern and innovative version.
