Gault&Millau's review 2026
Chef's Restaurant
The story that began ten years ago as a street food concept in Bol on the island of Brač, followed by the opening of a restaurant in the centre of Zagreb, continues its development path without fail. BioMania bistro, which won the Gault&Millau Best POP Restaurant award in 2025, still maintains the same quality and follows the same idea - to offer vegan and vegetarian dishes in which nutritional balance is the key. They source their ingredients from long-time collaborators from the islands of Brač, Hvar and the continental part of Croatia. The cuisine follows the rhythm of the seasons, and all dishes on the menu enjoy equal popularity - for example, the vegan burger (a bean, beetroot and chickpea patty in a fine pastry from Boogie Lab) is loved by meat eaters, as is their red lentil soup, thickened with sweet potato, carrot and coconut milk. The novelty is that the main dishes are now offered also in a ‘starter’ size, which may not be financially profitable, but is convenient for those who want to try as many combinations as possible without overeating. Their desserts - cakes, raw cakes and fruit combinations - are prepared without refined sugars. The wine list is not extensive, but it is thoughtful - several carefully selected labels of classic and organic wines; they offer signature cocktails and mocktails, natural juices, kombucha and smoothies. We still consider BioMania Bistro to be one of the best vegan restaurants in Zagreb.
