Gault&Millau's review 2026

The “Dalmatian Marenda (brunch)” label, awarded to selected restaurants by the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board, guarantees that the cuisine uses local ingredients and is cooked according to authentic recipes. Dujkin Dvor, a charming tavern located right next to the ancient fishing port of Matejuška, received this label because it has maintained for years the same level of service and food quality. They prepare traditional Dalmatian dishes that are sometimes worked into new flavour combinations. They offer their own pasta with seafood, prosciutto, and truffles, homemade gregada (light fish stew), white fish dishes, but also classic Dalmatian brunches such as pašticada (braised beef) and fried small fish. They make their own bread and cakes, and they source olive oil, prosciutto, and cheese from local farms, and it is recommended to order a nicely chilled homemade Pošip (white wine) with their meal. Dujkin Dvor (Dujka’s courtyard) is named after the heroine of a true love story from the early 20th century (Dujka Bašić), who in that part of Split was a symbol of a simple, honest life and food of the same kind.
