Gault&Millau's review 2026

With a long terrace on the street, covered with large umbrellas and overlooking the sea and the old town of Zadar, and with an elegantly decorated interior, Fenix ​​is ​​one of the restaurants of the new, luxurious Hyatt Regency Zadar Hotel. The hotel itself is located in the beautiful, renovated building of the iconic Maraska factory. It is especially nice in the evening when the city lights are visible in the distance. Fenix ​​has a menu that combines Asian and South American cuisine. For sushi lovers, there is a special menu, with a good selection of sashimi, nigiri, uramaki and hosomaki. We were more interested in warm dishes, so we ordered the Kakiage tempura of mixed vegetables cut into thin strips with curry and aioli sauce, and the large tiger prawns tempura. Finely prepared and light tempuras are always appealing and you can share them with others, so they were a good choice. We also ordered the wontons (Chinese ravioli) filled with duck meat: silky dough, with an aromatic filling and finely chopped Asian negi leaves and sesame, in a chili and olive sauce. The dish delighted us with its harmony of spices and flavours. We finished the dinner with a refreshing matcha parfait, in which the creamy sweet ice creams are infused with the slightly bitter taste of green tea. The personnel at Fenix are extremely friendly and professional. The restaurant’s special menu, the good wine list and the excellent cocktails attract both foreign tourists and locals.
