Gault&Millau's review 2026

The first restaurant in eastern Croatia offering 3 in 1 concept - a cocktail bar, a nightclub, and an Asian fusion culinary offering - is located in Osijek’s historic centre of Tvrđa. The menu is extensive, well designed, and clearly structured. For starters, guests can choose enoki rolls, vegetable tempura, tuna tataki, spring rolls, or shrimp tempura. The sushi selection is also diverse and plentiful – hosomaki, uramaki, futomaki, and more. Main courses are divided by type of meat or fish and mostly consist of wok dishes paired with jasmine rice, fried rice, or udon noodles. The menu also includes gyoza, poke bowls, and soups – miso soup, hot-and-sour soup, and the popular ramen – with clear markings for spicy, vegan, and gluten-free options. The only real challenge is deciding what to eat. For example, the pulled pork bao buns are a hearty dish adapted to local tastes: two soft, flavourful buns generously filled with juicy smoked pork knuckle, sauerkraut, and crispy onions, delivering a delicious sweet-and-sour experience. The Szechuan beef is served with crispy vegetables and rice sprinkled with black sesame seeds. We also suggest trying a dessert that may be unusual for local palates but is very tasty – mochi. This Japanese sweet made from sticky rice with red bean flavour is served with green tea–flavoured ice cream. Franz Koch is also well known for its cocktails, whose selection and quality are outstanding.
