Ganeum is a blend of tavern and haute cuisine, where chefs Robert Benzia (Gault&Millau Trophy Great Chef of Tomorrow 2020) and Jurica Obrov cook traditional Mediterranean specialties and present them in a modern way. On the charming terrace in the old center of Lovran it will be difficult to get a seat without a reservation. The interior of the restaurant is also pleasant, but the terrace is more vibrant. Guests are attracted by the good atmosphere, excellent service and honest food, and delicious fish and meat dishes prepared with top quality ingredients. Daily fresh fish is excellent as carpaccio gently seasoned with a mixture of oil, citrus and wasabi. Before the courses start arriving, enjoy homemade sourdough bread, top-quality local olive oil and chickpea and pesto cream. If you order spring asparagus risotto or autumn porcini mushroom risotto, the waiter will remind you that the preparation of fresh will take a while. Creamy, full of fragrant porcini mushrooms, the generous portion is decorated with crumbled boiled chestnuts on top. You can try the famous Kvarner scampi in tempura, their meat is firm and sweet, and they are served on chard and potato puree, with beetroot-coloured mayonnaise, in a separate bowl. Side dishes with the supple duck breast depend on the season, and a grilled fillet of noble fish is always a good choice. Lemon tart is excellent for the end, but even better is the three-layer chestnut puree in a glass: light whipped cream, chocolate and creamy chestnuts with an intense flavour, are in wonderful harmony. Leave the wine recommendation to the waiter.
