Gariful Restaurant on Hvar is a long-established destination for the international jet set. Its prime waterfront location, directly opposite the luxury yacht moorings, defines its brand of exclusivity and Mediterranean glamour, offering guests an unparalleled view and the feeling of being at the heart of the island’s social scene. The restaurant’s high profile has occasionally included controversies, such as highly-publicized disputes with other local proprietors and debates over exceptionally high bills. Despite these episodes, Gariful maintains its steady operational rhythm. The atmosphere of luxury is evident throughout. Guests are often greeted with a red-carpet welcome. The elegant, multi-tiered terraces provide one of the finest views of Hvar’s harbour, while striking glass coolers near the entrance showcase an impressive selection of fresh fish and seafood, including scampi. The culinary experience matches the restaurant’s reputation. A luxurious starter, such as scallops and black truffle served with leek cream, sets the tone. The menu focuses on impeccably prepared classics, like fresh grilled fish with chard, followed by refined desserts like the Choux au Craquelin. Gariful boasts one of the most extensive wine lists on the Adriatic, featuring a particularly strong champagne selection. Given its standing and location, the high prices are fully expected.
