If you want to taste the real Zagreb cuisine, Ficlek is a place that is definitely worth a visit. Located in the heart of the city, right next to Dolac and in the immediate vicinity of the Zagreb Cathedral, it is an ideal place to take a break after a walk around the city. The inn is smaller and very nice, and the decoration is warm and simple. In good weather, you can also sit on the terrace overlooking the Cathedral. The menu includes traditional Zagreb and Croatian dishes: ajngemahtec, tafelšpić, liver, breaded picek, meatballs, turkey with mlinci, krpice with cabbage, štrukli, šufnudle, dumplings, strudels and other classics of local cuisine. Some dishes are available seasonally. We tried veal liver with mashed potatoes and beef schnitzel with bread roll. The liver was excellent! Soft, juicy and just right, and the creamy mashed potatoes were an excellent side dish. Simple, homemade and very tasty. The portions are concrete, so we left the restaurant satisfied and full. From the dessert offer, we chose an apple strudel, which perhaps should have been taken out of the oven a little earlier, but there is no complaint about the taste. Ficlek is visited by both locals and foreigners, young and old, and it is nice to see that the waiters treat everyone equally kindly and professionally. Ficlek is exactly what is expected from a good Zagreb inn: traditional local food, a pleasant ambience, large and tasty portions and good service. We definitely recommend booking a table.
