Gourmet Restaurant
It is one of the most famous traditional inns in Zagreb, which has been operating continuously since 1932. Its offer is based on Zagreb and continental Croatian cuisine, local dishes and generous portions. Purger is a favorite restaurant of Zagreb residents, but also of tourists and guests who come to Zagreb on business and are looking for authentic flavors. At lunchtime, it is extremely lively, and the meal is usually started with one of the hearty soups - traditional Zagorje soup with beans, bacon and mushrooms or clear beef, with homemade noodles. Homemade Zagorje štrukli, served as a salty appetizer or in a sweet version at the end of the meal, are also a house specialty. The menu includes classics such as duck with mlinci, roast veal, fillet, sarma in winter and stuffed peppers in summer, while excellent trout and fried squid are a common choice for fish lovers. For every recommendation are veal Viennese and Zagreb steak, which are served with excellent fried fries, and bean and cabbage salad with pumpkin seed oil. The dessert offer remains in the traditional register, and pancakes with walnuts or chocolate with chato - a foamy wine sauce - are especially popular. Of the drinks with this kind of cuisine, local wines are most often chosen, i.e. gemišt, as well as beer. The speed and quality of service, kindness and homely atmosphere are the reasons why Purger is one of the favorite addresses for a simple good lunch or dinner.
