Gault&Millau's review 2026

The restaurant Gradska vijećnica, which everyone in Šibenik calls at Moca, after the nickname of the owner and chef Ivo Močić, has one of the most beautiful locations in the city. It is located under the vaults across from Šibenik’s Cathedral of St. James, a unique cultural monument under UNESCO protection. The classic interior has been the same for years, but the terrace offers a unique spectacle. While you eat, you can enjoy the smallest details of the magnificent cathedral’s architecture. Every day, early in the morning, summer and winter, sunny or rainy weather, you will meet Moca at the market in search of the best ingredients. Cooking is truly his passion. His cuisine is modern and mostly inspired by traditional Dalmatian dishes. You will be welcomed by two friendly waitresses who will take care of you throughout the meal. We started with homemade fish soup, with the smell and taste of the sea and pieces of fish, just the way it should be. After the soup, another warm pasta appetizer: penne in gorgonzola sauce, served in a deep plate to keep it warm for as long as possible. The silky and creamy sauce seeped into the cavity of the penne, precisely cooked al dente. For the main course, we ordered grilled squid, served on a large glass plate with colourful vegetables. The carefully thought-out presentation enriched the simple but excellently prepared dish. With lunch, we had a local wine Debit that blended beautifully with the flavours on the plates. Gradska vijećnica (City Hall) is one of those Šibenik addresses that you will definitely visit.
