From a former traditional tavern, Kala in Supetar has transformed in the last few years into one of the rare fine-dining restaurants on Brač and is now one of the leading gourmet destinations on the island. Located in an alley (kala) above the waterfront, Kala stands out from other taverns and restaurants. The modern decoration of the interior and the outdoor terrace is refined and elegant, but the warmth and the atmosphere of a family restaurant are preserved. The credit goes to the spouses Mia and Dino Šeparović, who run their restaurant with great passion. Dino is the chef of the kitchen, and Mia, an excellent sommelier, takes care of the dining room. The kitchen uses top-quality local ingredients, but with an innovative approach to contemporary gastronomy. Special attention is paid to the presentation of the dishes, and each bowl and plate is carefully selected to best showcase the chef’s culinary creations. The menu is not extensive, which is an additional confirmation that the dishes are freshly prepared. It is a tasting menu, but the dishes can also be ordered individually. Be sure to try their signature dish: the lamb tartare. Brač is known for its first-class lamb, and the tartare particularly emphasizes the tenderness of the meat, complemented by fermented kohlrabi and crunchy roasted hazelnuts. Oysters, tuna, turbot, all these seafood delicacies and many more are on their menu, which changes regularly. There is also an excellent selection of wine labels, from Croatian winemakers to wines from famous world wineries. The personnel is friendly and very professional. Kala is an address to remember.
