Gault&Millau's review 2026

Located in the atrium of Gajeva Street, in the very centre of Zagreb, Kiyomi is a restaurant that combines the urban energy of the city with a refined Asian aesthetic. A modern interior inspired by Japanese minimalism, warm wood tones, discreet lighting and an open kitchen create a sophisticated yet cosy atmosphere, ideal for a business lunch, a romantic dinner or an evening out. The kitchen is led by chef Vid Nikolić, whose approach is based on contemporary Pan-Asian cuisine with an emphasis on dim sum, robata grill and sushi. The menu is focused on quality, and the added value is the lunch tasting menus, designed as a more accessible entry into Kiyomi’s gastronomic world. The fresh Tuna Hand Roll and the sweet-smoky skewers with tiger prawns fried in miso butter, on a rabata grill, are dishes that you will want to try again. We also recommend to taste their juicy Wagyu Yakishabu, thin slices of Wagyu beef grilled very briefly that melt in your mouth. For dessert, you can indulge in refreshing matcha ice cream, served with mitarashi dango, small grilled rice flour balls, and anko paste, a sweet red bean paste. The service is professional and unobtrusive, supported by the restaurant’s sommelier who expertly presents an ambitious wine list featuring labels from Croatian, European and international winemakers, including rare wines from Australia and China. The cocktail list was created in collaboration with renowned Zagreb mixologists. Considering the offer and service, Kiyomi has rightly positioned itself as one of the most modern and ambitious places on the Zagreb gastronomic scene.
