Gault&Millau's review 2026

Housed in a 17th-century building, with a terrace shaded by palm trees, Kod barba Luke is located at the junction of the Riva and Tvrdalj, overlooking the historic summer residence of Petar Hektorović in the heart of Stari Grad on Hvar. Despite its central location, the terrace offers a sense of intimacy and calm, making it ideal for enjoying a lunch or dinner by the sea. The Roić family has run the restaurant since 1970, consistently preserving a Mediterranean style and the warm, welcoming atmosphere of a traditional konoba. The menu focuses primarily on seafood. Alongside well-known classics such as octopus salad and black risotto, there are more inventive starters, including prawn tartare and homemade ravioli filled with fish and vegetables, served either in a cuttlefish and cherry tomato sauce or with sun-dried tomatoes and eggplant. For lovers of traditional Dalmatian flavours, dishes such as gregada and brodetto are also available, while guests who prefer meat can choose from several cuts of steak or lamb. The wine list features a curated selection of Dalmatian wines, complemented by a choice of fine French champagnes.
