Gourmet Restaurant
Nestled on a hill above Pliško Polje, with a terrace that opens onto the field and the sea, Konoba Golub offers peace and a sense of distance from the everyday hustle and bustle, and is particularly enchanting on warm summer evenings. The ambiance is unobtrusive, and the personnel are professional and friendly, which further contributes to the relaxed atmosphere. The menu is designed in accordance with Dalmatian tradition, with an emphasis on fish, seafood and classic island dishes. In addition to fish or octopus on the grill or under the peka (baking bell), and brodetto and gregada (light fish stew), they prepare dishes such as black cuttlefish risotto, and homemade pasta with prawns or other seafood. Meat lovers can get carefully selected cuts of meat or slower-cooked dishes reminiscent of the local cuisine. For appetizers, we tried the Dalmatian prosciutto and the homemade sheep’s cheese, with tomatoes, top-quality olive oil and fragrant fresh bread. The main course followed: octopus under the peka. Extremely tasty and infused with potato juices, olive oil and aromatic herbs, with a slightly caramelized crust that carries the full flavour of the Mediterranean. The kitchen occasionally offers more creative combinations, so dare to try them! We continued with tradition and sweetened ourselves with the carob cake. The wine list includes local wines and a selection of labels from other Croatian regions, but not all the wines are available by the glass. Table reservations are recommended, and it is advisable to order the peka in advance. Konoba Golub fosters a blend of Vis gastronomic heritage and a contemporary culinary approach, creating a pleasant experience.
