Gault&Millau's review 2026

Konoba kod Guste, a beautiful old tavern with a long tradition it’s on a prime location in the old port of Sukošan. The space is expanded with a bright, glass-enclosed terrace in the immediate vicinity of the sea, with a view that further emphasizes the atmosphere of the place. In winter, sitting by the fireplace, protected by a glass wall, provides a special charm. This is where they prepare the food under the peka (the baking bell) or on the grill, a culinary spectacle that guests enjoy watching. The menu is based on top-quality fresh fish and seafood: squid, scampi, monkfish with noodles, various risottos - with scampi, black risotto, and even some somewhat forgotten but extremely delicious local dishes, such as risotto with dried cod. To start, we recommend a refreshing, fish soup or fried small smelt, depending on the daily offer. The risotto with dried cod is creamy, rich in flavour, but without the strong smell of the cod. The black risotto is especially worth mentioning - creamy, full of pieces of perfectly prepared cuttlefish. The grilled fish was superb: juicy, with preserved natural flavours and scents of the sea. This time we enjoyed the excellently prepared John Dory. The selection of bottled wines is modest, but there is a good selection of the house white and red wines. They offer several special homemade brandies, among which the jujube brandy stands out. We really had a pleasant gastronomic experience in this warm tavern with a family atmosphere and a friendly personnel.
