Kopačina, in Donji Humac, is still one of the most famous taverns on the island of Brač, a gourmet destination visited by everyone who sets foot on the island, whether they are tourists or guests coming from the coast. The reason, of course, is the excellent food they offer and prepare with top-quality local ingredients. The large tavern has been the same for years, with a traditionally decorated interior and a spacious terrace overlooking the green hills in the heart of Brač. The owners - the Jugović family - pay attention to the cuisine, and their guests appreciate it and return regularly. Since the tavern is open all year round, large groups from nearby Split often come to celebrate anniversaries. The extensive menu, dedicated primarily to meat dishes, especially lamb, has not changed either, but they also have a good selection of fish and scampi, as well as risotto and pasta. Try the fantastic lamb under the peka (baked under the bell on open fire). You don’t know what is better, the juicy meat or the potatoes and vegetables that have absorbed all the flavours and aromas of the young Brač lamb. To start, order their homemade prosciutto. In many Adriatic taverns, this traditional Dalmatian appetizer has lost its value, because, unfortunately, neither the prosciutto nor the cheese is homemade. Here, it’s different. Just as the delicious vegetables that they grow in their own vegetable garden. The pleasant ambiance, the friendly staff, the good selection of wines and above all the excellent food: all of this makes Konoba Kopačina a place you should not miss when visiting Brač.
