Konoba Magić is not far from the town of Vis, so it is easy to get there by car. But most often it is visited by yachtsmen who anchor in the Stončica bay, to dine in this charming gastronomic oasis. The good reputation spreads quickly. In addition to the regular guests returning every summer, the tavern attracts new visitors year after year, so it is essential to reserve a table. On the stone terrace surrounded by vineyards, there is always a relaxed atmosphere, and guests enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the magical island. The family restaurant is run by Biserka Jerković, the owner and chef de cuisine, while the family has also its own farm and a winery, and they offer tastings of local wines, Vugava, Rukatac, Kuc and Plavac. The tavern’s specialty is peka (food baked on open fire under a bell), especially lamb, but you can get veal and octopus as well. You must reserve the peka in advance. The dishes are prepared according to traditional Dalmatian recipes from quality local and seasonal ingredients. They grow most of the vegetables themselves. Be sure to try the fried zucchini flower stuffed with anchovies and served with caper tartare sauce. The grilled vegetables are delicious as a side dish to their famous grilled lamb chops, which are cooked in front of you, on an open fire in the outdoor fireplace. While the friendly staff will recommend the house specialties, we recommend that for a complete enjoyment you end the dinner with a glass of one of their homemade brandies.
