Located in the secluded Opat bay of Kornat Island, within the Kornati National Park, the tavern of the same name is a favourite destination for boaters sailing the Kornati Islands. The unique experience of untouched nature and sea here combines with authentic Dalmatian cuisine. In the season, it is necessary to reserve a berth otherwise you will not get a seat in the restaurant. The ambiance is rustic but elegant, and the terrace over the sea offers an almost magical view that further complements every bite. The owner and chef, Ante Božikov, warmly welcomes every guest. The menu at Opat changes depending on the catch of the day. Local fishermen bring daily the fresh fish, scampi, lobsters, shellfish. Ante himself, a diver since childhood, is a passionate fisherman who knows all the secrets of the sea depths. He prepares the fish and the seafood masterfully, and the dishes exude the original scents and flavours of the sea. We started the lunch with a glass of sparkling wine that went perfectly with the tuna carpaccio on curd and the scampi carpaccio. Then we enjoyed a creamy and tasty asparagus and scampi risotto. The fragrant wild herbs harvested near the tavern enrich the dishes with a special aroma. Precisely executed, the simple cuisine uses available local ingredients. The dishes are attractively presented on the plate, while the shareable appetizers arrive on wooden trays. To finish, we tasted a homemade cottage cheese dessert, light and refreshing. The wine list offers a selection of domestic and foreign wines that harmoniously complement the seafood dishes. Opat will provide you with an unforgettable astronomic experience in a natural dream setting.
