Gault&Millau's review 2026

The latest gastronomic venture of the Linčir brothers, the trendy restaurant Peškarija in a renovated fish market in the centre of the town of Vis has not overshadowed their Konoba Stončica, located in the sandy cove of the same name, on the eastern side of the island. The simple tavern on the beach, with wooden tables and benches, is the complete opposite of the Vis restaurant and is reminiscent of some ancient times when along the Adriatic Sea the fish was mostly prepared on the grill. A favourite spot for yachtsmen who regularly return and tourists who have discovered Stončica, the tavern offers fresh fish prepared in this traditional way. The Linčir brothers have divided the duties, with Toni being a professional fisherman, Pavo a master of the grill, and Tripo taking care of everything else. One of the tavern’s specialties are the sardines on a spit. A dozen or so sardines are strung on a specially treated stick and briefly grilled over a high fire. If you haven’t tried them yet, you must do it! Their first-class buzara made with scampi or lobster is also excellent. It is a pleasure to sit in the shade of the covered terrace, with a glass of local wine and watch your meal being prepared. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is relaxed, a real summer one. Be sure to reserve a table because Konoba Stončica is always full.
