Tradition with a contemporary touch. This is the best definition for the restaurant Vorichi. Located in the peaceful Istrian countryside near Barban, Vorichi embodies a rare balance of authenticity and refinement. Surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, its summer terrace is especially enchanting, offering a setting where time naturally slows down – exactly as it should be in Istria. The atmosphere is subtly rustic yet thoughtfully designed, clearly conveying a message: tradition is deeply respected here, but modern expression is warmly embraced. The cuisine at Vorichi is rooted in traditional Istrian dishes, reinterpreted in a contemporary, lighter and visually refined style. Each plate is carefully composed, with a clear focus on balance of flavours and textures. We began with a sea bass tartare, served on a delicate fennel sauce, accompanied by parsley mayonnaise and fresh notes of orange and pomegranate. Exceptionally fresh, clean and elegant, this dish expresses its Mediterranean character in every bite.The Black Angus beef tartare with cracklings offered a striking contrast – tender, high-quality beef paired with crisp, intensely flavoured cracklings, resulting in a bold yet beautifully balanced dish. The cod risotto with spicy sausage stood out in particular – creamy and full-flavoured, with a gentle spicy kick that enhances rather than overpowers the dish. Vorichi is a place where tradition is not merely reproduced, but thoughtfully reinterpreted. An ideal destination for those seeking authentic Istrian flavours presented in a contemporary, refined and carefully considered way – a place you gladly return to, for both the food and the atmosphere.
