Gault&Millau's review 2026

The restaurant Korčula in the pedestrian zone in the city centre has been popular for its traditional Dalmatian cuisine for more than 60 years. They offer various kind of fish and the menu is designed in a way that they are all combined into one of the simple, delicious dishes. Right at the beginning of your lunch or dinner, they will show you on a platter the available fresh fish that they bake in the oven or they grill or cook in a salt crust. To start you can try a hot and cold combination ideal for sharing between several people: the hot crispy soparnik, a flatbread pie stuffed with green Swiss chard leaves and covered with thinly sliced smoked tuna, the toasted thin homemade bread and smoked fish pâté, and a cold platter of seafood delicacies with wild tuna and scampi tartare and smoked swordfish. Among the classics, we recommend the brodetto of monkfish, clams and prawns with polenta or the juicy, soft octopus leg baked with potatoes. The classic rozata (sort of crème caramel) or figs in Prošek (the sweet Dalmatian wine) will round off a pleasant gastronomic experience in this unpretentiously decorated restaurant. The atmosphere is pleasant inside and on the terrace, and the dishes are beautifully served. Tables covered with white tablecloths, linen napkins and discreet floral decorations bring elegance and warmth, and the young and cheerful personnel are efficient even when it’s crowded. Be sure to make a reservation on weekends, as Korčula is popular for its fair price-quality ratio. This year the restaurant deserved two Gault&Millau toques.
