Gault&Millau's review 2026

Today Labrax is a must on the Zadar gastronomic scene. Located on a small square in the old town centre, near the church of St. Simeon, the restaurant attracts with its pleasant terrace and a special atmosphere. The direct connection with the historic centre of the city creates a lively energy that is naturally transmitted to the guests and makes an ideal setting for enjoying good food and wine. The menu follows contemporary gastronomic trends and it is thoughtful, creative and seductively designed. It all starts with a greeting from the kitchen, which this time included tuna pâté,in a crispy basket and anchovies on corn cream with a touch of black garlic mayonnaise. For lovers of seafood, we recommend the ceviche “frutti di mare” with sea bass, scampi, prawns and squid, with leche de tigre, buttermilk, corn and chili powder. This is a refreshing and almost unique appetizer in which the combination of buttermilk and corn brings a new dimension of flavour. As a warm appetizer, linguine with blue crab meat, tomato and crab bisque stands out. As well as the tuna Wellington, perfectly seared, with blue cheese espuma, Grana Padano and delicate Roman gnocchi. The homemade cannelloni stuffed with scampi and cottage cheese, served in a scampi bisque with saffron that rounded off this refined but powerful dish were excellent. The wine list covers the entire Croatia, with a range of top labels, along with selected foreign wines and champagnes. It is recommended to reserve a table in advance.
