Primošten is a small town by the sea halfway between Trogir and Šibenik, which has been booming in tourism in recent years. It is located on a peninsula, and you enter in the old town through a stone passage. From the main square a leisurely walk through the narrow stone streets takes you to the restaurant Mediteran. As the name suggests, the menu features various Mediterranean dishes that are more reminiscent of Italy than, unfortunately, of the fragrant and high-quality food rich Dalmatia in which Primošten is located. The old stone courtyard captivates at first sight. The kitchen is next to the tables, so the hungry guests can see what the chefs are preparing for them. The service is pleasant and polite, and it is unobtrusively dedicated to each guest. Homemade bread and Greek and Spanish olives arrive as a welcome gift with olive oil. The thick tomato soup is excellent energiser after swimming in the sea in the cool September. This restaurant is famous for its appetizers, so it is recommended to spend the evening tasting them with a glass of local wine or beer. We choose the scallops in a béchamel sauce, which, although mild in flavour, masked the even milder flavour of the shellfish itself. The restaurant Mediteran prides itself on its homemade pasta and platters with a variety of seafood. Our choice is spaghetti from southern Italy, Aglio, olio e peperoncino. If you’ve ever had the same dish in Italy, you might be a little disappointed because here it is too spicy. If you’re coming at lunchtime or later in the evening, the table reservation is a must.
