Located within an old Art Nouveau villa with a beautiful park, a fountain and a carefully landscaped garden, the restaurant Mokosh, although in the city centre, provides an exceptionally warm country atmosphere. The entire villa is a protected cultural heritage. For the exceptional achievement in interior decoration, they received the prestigious world award for the best decorated space in its category, the SBID International Design Award. The food is tasty, innovative and attractive, while the prices are adapted to a wider audience. You can start with some roasted seasonal vegetables infused with wild herbs oil and served with Romesco sauce, made of red peppers, garlic and nuts. Fish lovers can order a delicious, beautifully served fish and octopus ceviche. We liked even more the cod in the spirit of the traditional Dalmatian cod alla bianco, but excellently finished with the confit cod cream in olive oil, sprinkled and baked with a thin film of parmesan, olives and a touch of butter. The menu includes salads, vegetables, pasta, fish and we specially highlight the fish baked in a salt crust. Among the meat dishes, there is their well known suckling pig confit for two people but also the marinated pork belly with Mediterranean herbs, roasted until crispy, served with baked potatoes from the Lika region and braised cabbage. The desserts are also inspiring, whether fruity, like the apple crumble, or the rich Paris-Brest, the crispy choux pastry filled with pistachio mousse and a creamy caramelised pistachio. Due to the excellent selection of food and wine, the friendly staff, and the sophisticated ambiance, you’ll always be happy to return to Mokosh, even if just for a coffee or a drink.
