Chef's Restaurant
The Najade restaurant is a Lovran institution that has been operating continuously for several decades. While there are no modern culinary techniques, innovations, or original dishes, this consistency is their greatest quality. They operate year-round, a sign that both tourists and locals dine here, knowing the food is good and made from quality ingredients. The restaurant is located in an Austro-Hungarian villa, surrounded by similar buildings on the coast, creating an impressive ambiance both on the terrace and in the interior, which also offers a lovely view. The menu features simple Mediterranean cuisine, with Kvarner shrimp and fish as the stars. Guests can be assured of fresh, daily catch, as servers present the fish before preparation. Shrimp risotto is made with real broth, grilled fish retains its juiciness, and scallops are lightly gratinated and served with olive oil, wine, and parsley. Side dishes are basic- salads and classic Swiss chard with potatoes - and simply presented. The wine list is solid and relatively extensive, focusing on fresh malvasia.
