Remarkable Restaurant
Arriving at Navis is an interesting experience - thanks to the entrance of the private parking lot via a dramatic downhill drive. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the eponymous family-run boutique & design hotel, set on a narrow stretch of rock between the sea and the main road connecting Rijeka with the Opatija Riviera. One of the property’s key advantages is its beautiful terrace overlooking Kvarner Bay. The ambiance is very pleasant, and guests are warmly welcomed from the hotel reception all the way to being seated at their table. Navis’ gastronomic offer is based on fish and seafood - with a note stated on the menu that all fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and shellfish are sourced exclusively from local fishermen. In the kitchen, these ingredients are prepared in an innovative way. For example, a fillet of premium sea bass is served with charred kale on potato purée and a delicate white wine sauce. The risotto has a rich flavour imparted by Kvarner scampi bisque, although an extra piece or two of this prized seafood would be welcome in the portion. Several meat dishes are included on the menu – beefsteak, lamb, and ribeye steak. The amuse-bouche features excellent homemade sourdough bread served with butter sprinkled with fleur de sel, dehydrated cauliflower and radish leave powder, accompanied by premium olive oil from the family production. The wine list offers a selection of Croatian labels as well as wines from various regions around the world.
