Gault&Millau's review 2026

Perla is a great example of a quality island tavern with nearly four decades of tradition, where recipes are passed down through generations. Located in Banjol, right by the sea, its large terrace offers views of the old town of Rab. The menu is tourist - friendly, focusing on fish and grilled dishes. Cooking is simple, using high - quality ingredients such as fresh Adriatic fish and seafood sourced from local fishermen. Guests are welcomed with homemade olive oil and fresh bread, and the menu depends on the daily catch: scorpionfish, dentex, and John Dory can be particularly impressive. Their grilled squid is excellent, served with Swiss chard and potatoes. The grill also features quality meats such as beefsteak, ribeye, T-bone, tenderloin, and popular ćevapi (minced meat seasoned with salt and pepper). If you like classic Mediterranean dishes, pasta with shrimp and other seafood, or risotto with cuttlefish are recommended. Panna cotta or chocolate mousse are not typical Rab’s dessert but will add some sweetness to your meal. The combination of fresh local ingredients, solid wines, and a relaxed atmosphere makes Perla a recognizable destination for experiencing gastronomy at the island of Rab.
