Bistro 9 bofora (9 Beaufort), a beautiful glazed area with a view on the sea and the islet of Košljun, is located in the very heart of the Punat marina, the first and oldest in Croatia. It is a favourite place of the sailors anchored in the marina, who come for the excellent breakfast, a hearty brunch or a special dinner. Opened back in 1985, the bistro has been renovated and modernized several times. It exudes an authentic nautical atmosphere, and it is located right next to the sea, in a dream setting of beautiful ships and yachts. Here you will find modern interpretations of the traditional dishes of the island of Krkj, with the products from the local farms. The range of dishes goes from the excellent bruschetta with boiled cod and smoked sardines and bitter orange cream to the delicious lamb chops. They are famous for their boškarin (Istrian autochthonous cattle) burgers with onion chips and vegetables, and for their exceptional pizzas, of which there are more than ten types. They particularly recommend the MP 1964 pizza - named after the marina Punat founded in 1964 - with smoked anchovies, mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes. At 9 bofora, they serve Croatian wines by the glass. These are often special wines, such as those of Međimurje’s region winemaker David Štampar, or the wines from Korčula produced by the famous winemakers Bire and Zure, or by Volarevic. On the tables there is a very good olive oil from the olive groves surrounding the marina. Boats, fine food, local olive oil, selected wines. It is hard to imagine a better combination, and the prices are fair. Bistro 9 bofora is open all year round.
