Gault&Millau's review 2026

Close to the Gruž market and ferry port, Restaurant Porat reflects its surroundings in two defining ways: ingredients arrive fresh from local suppliers and fishermen, and many guests are travellers waiting for or arriving from ferries. Locals also visit the restaurant, knowing that it offers good food at fair prices. The kitchen is rooted in Mediterranean and Dalmatian traditions but includes international dishes suited to a diverse clientele. The menu ranges from seven types of breakfast to sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and a surprisingly wide selection of main courses. Despite this breadth, the quality remains consistent. Poached sea bass is served with vegetables in a herb and white-wine sauce, while tuna steak coated in coriander comes with avocado and cucumber salsa. Spicy pork ribs arrive with fried potatoes, and beef steak with green-pepper sauce is accompanied by rice and vegetables. The service is quick and friendly, while the modern interior includes a covered terrace overlooking the everyday life of Gruž harbour.
