Chef's Restaurant
Due to its location and the charm of its outdoor terrace, Portofino is one of the most attractive restaurants inside Diocletian’s Palace, not far from the Peristil. Tables are set on a small piazza, covered with elegant white tablecloths, and large parasols protect the guests from the heat of the scorching summer sun. The space is additionally decorated with colourful flower arrangements. The restaurant is especially popular among foreign tourists. The menu with international dishes has been adapted to them. From salmon tartare to the escargots (snails) à la bourguignonne, from avocado tartare to the bruschetta with mozzarella, pesto and basil, the choice of appetizers is varied. We tried the popular French salad with baked goat cheese on lettuce, pieces of fresh apple and dried apricots, seasoned with mustard and honey dressing. The homemade ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta were good. Among the main courses, in addition to the sea bass fillet with celery cream and the tuna fillet with red pepper cream and chickpea hummus, you can choose between the salmon Wellington and the duck confit. All the dishes are attractively served, and the friendly staff will present them in detail. The wine list at Portofino includes both Croatian and foreign wine labels. Save room for the dessert, as their desserts are tempting, whether you choose chocolate mousse or strawberry mousse with coconut and almond crumble and fresh strawberries. Portofino does not serve the traditional Dalmatian cuisine, but it is a restaurant with a good menu. It is recommended to reserve a table.
