Remarkable Restaurant
One of Zagreb's longest-running restaurants of a higher category, Balon has maintained its reputation for two decades thanks to its quality ingredients, precise workmanship, professional service and excellent wine list. During the warmer months, guests are happy to choose a table on the spacious terrace, while the minimalistically decorated, but pleasant interior creates a good atmosphere during the rest of the year. Its concept is a combination of contemporary Mediterranean and continental cuisine, and the emphasis is on fish and seafood, quality meat, pasta and risotto. To start the meal, the chef sends a greeting from the kitchen - a ball of breaded risotto with shredded beef, Parmesan cream and pickled onions. Among the more interesting cold and hot appetizers are tuna tartare with citrus pesto and caviar, beef tenderloin carpaccio or, on the other hand, Adriatic prawn carpaccio with rice chips, pickled onions and ricotta. From the main courses, veal rolls with cranberries and pine nuts and pear and ginger risotto with brie cheese are recommended for every recommendation, as well as lamb rump steak with celery casserole, bear's garlic pesto and demi-glace sauce. Balon is a restaurant that attracts business guests and families alike, and the added value is represented by the three- and five-course evening tasting menus, available after 5 pm in meat and fish versions. With the possibility of wine pairing and expert recommendations from sommeliers, the experience is rounded off in a way that confirms the restaurant's long-standing reputation.
