Although located close to Opatija’s main attractions, Ružmarin offers a surprisingly peaceful setting for a relaxed meal. Hidden in the narrow streets above Hotel Palace, it is still just a short walk from Slatina Beach and the famous Lungomare promenade. Originally a small family tavern, Ružmarin now celebrates over 40 years of tradition. Its extensive menu ranges from grilled dishes and pizzas to more refined specialties that showcase the kitchen’s creativity - while maintaining consistent quality in both ingredients and execution. The cuisine can best be described as Mediterranean with a modern twist. The tuna carpaccio with Istrian ricotta and orange-ginger jam beautifully balances sweet and savory notes with delicate freshness. The North Adriatic šurlice pasta is generously enriched with shrimp and truffles. For meat lovers, the Angus beef burger with Grana Padano, truffles, and mushrooms is a highlight, while dessert lovers should not miss the chocolate cake with fleur de sel. The restaurant today is spacious yet cozy, decorated in a traditional tavern style with plenty of wood and stone. Reservations are recommended, particularly during the busy tourist season.
