Gault&Millau's review 2026

Just a few steps from the town’s pier, in the narrow streets of Rovinj’s old town, you’ll find the vibrant terrace of the small restaurant Segutra. With its charming ambiance and homely atmosphere, the warm hospitality of the hosts instantly makes you feel like you’ve stepped into someone’s home, rather than just another restaurant. Tempting aromas and beautifully presented plates invite you to pause and indulge in a unique blend of traditional flavours and the unmistakable backdrop of Rovinj. The menu offers a rich selection of fish and meat dishes, rooted in Mediterranean and Istrian culinary traditions. For those with a more modern palate, there are fish and meat burgers to choose from, while simpler dishes like chicken strips and light salads round out the offer for guests less inclined to explore local flavours. Still, its traditional buzara that truly stands out — whether the white wine version with clams or the tomato-based one with scampi — elegantly evokes the kind of meals that locals have been preparing for generations. Paired with a glass of Malvazija, the experience becomes a genuinely authentic Istrian moment. A great price-to-quality ratio adds to the appeal of this place, making it no surprise that many guests return regularly — and that locals often wish this little gem were open all year round.
