The Senjković winery’s tasting room and restaurant are located on the main square in Nerežišće, a beautiful little town in the centre of the island of Brač. The spacious stone terrace in front of the restaurant is pleasantly decorated for tasting the wines and the small bites - tapas, while the interior is warmly and tastefully designed, with great respect for the island’s heritage. Dinners are served in the beautiful back garden, which seats only 12 guests per evening, which best speaks of the personal approach and dedication to each guest. The winery and this exceptionally charming facility are run by the spouses Magdalena and Saša - she takes care of the gastronomy and the experience at the table, and he of the wines. As expected in gastronomic oases that rely on local and seasonal ingredients, the menu changes depending on availability. We had the opportunity to taste the pulled lamb strudel, the vitello tonnato, the pickled artichokes, the marinated sardines and the octopus dumplings. We were particularly delighted with the lamb strudels – crispy crust and perfectly seasoned meat infused with the aromas of Brač herbs. And the marinated sardines, although seemingly simple, were exceptional – juicy and balanced, in a marinade with a rich character. The octopus dumplings stood out with their harmony of crispy exterior and juicy, slow-cooked interior that retained all the flavours of the sea. They serve with the food their excellent homemade bread and top-quality olive oil. The dishes were paired by the winery’s flagship wines - rosé Spoza and Pošip Sentiment, with two interpretations of Plavac Mali available: Bročka rič and Bosso. This is a place where ambiance, refined cuisine based on local ingredients and indigenous wines blend harmoniously. Reservations are required well in advance for dinner, while no notice is required for the wine tasting with tapas.
