Local specialties, a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere and proximity to the sea are the hallmarks of the Ficović family restaurant in the village of Hodilje, near Ston. The restaurant offers access to a small beach and a spacious covered terrace decorated with fishing nets and other details that recall the region’s fishing heritage. The owners themselves prepare dishes made from fresh ingredients, many of which they produce on their own family farm: vegetables, fruit and shellfish are cultivated by the Ficović family, while fish is often caught by them or purchased from local fishermen. Although the wine list is not extensive, it includes carefully selected labels from the nearby Pelješac vineyards. The meal often begins with their clear fish soup, rich with flavour and pieces of white fish – a dish that many regular guests consider indispensable. The black cuttlefish risotto and tagliatelle with shrimp are full of deep maritime flavours. As starters, fresh or fried oysters and octopus salad are excellent choices. Meat dishes and vegetarian options are also available. Staff will gladly present the fish of the day, typically grilled and served with Swiss chard and potatoes. Desserts are simple yet delicious and rooted in local tradition. In keeping with the family’s commitment to innovation, the restaurant also serves ice cream flavoured with hemp oil, produced from industrial hemp grown on their own farm.
