Konoba Skoblar, one of the most famous and longest-standing taverns in Zadar, located in a very attractive location in the old town, near Trg pet bunara, is equally popular among local guests and tourists looking for authentic Dalmatian flavours. The ambiance is pleasant and unobtrusive, with rustic details, while the terrace in the warmer months provides the special atmosphere of the lively old town. The cuisine is based on fresh, local ingredients, with an emphasis on fish and seafood, but also quality meat dishes. We started the meal with an octopus salad, perfectly soft and well-seasoned, with balanced Mediterranean flavours. This was followed by fried fresh red mullet with chard, simply prepared, but extremely tasty. As a main course, the excellent shark brodetto (sort of stew) with polenta stood out – rich and aromatic with a sauce that shows a confident and experienced hand in the kitchen. For a sweet ending, we chose the semifreddo with fig, a light and pleasantly refreshing dessert. The wine list follows the Mediterranean character of the cuisine and offers a selection of domestic Croatian wines, with an emphasis on Dalmatian varieties such as Pošip and Plavac Mali, but also decent house wines that go well with the dishes. It is also worth noting that outside the main tourist season they offer excellent brunches, especially popular with local guests due to their fresh daily dishes, affordable prices and homely atmosphere. Here you can enjoy a sincere and authentic Dalmatian cuisine in the very heart of Zadar.
