Gault&Millau's review 2026

This spring, long-time Spinnaker chef Goran Hrastovčak left the restaurant that he raised to an exceptionally high level. He is now chef of the kitchen of Harry’s piccolo restaurant, in the new Valamar Pical Resort 5*. Namely, the legendary Harry’s piccolo restaurant from Trieste (2 Michelin*), run by chefs Matteo Metullio and Davide De Pra, has its branch in Poreč. And the 3 top chefs together will enrich the local gourmet scene. Chef Hrastovčak is replaced by chef Marko Turković who already leads the restaurant Fogo. Located right on the coast, it is known for the superb gastronomic experience it provides. The sophisticated and modern interior, with an elegant terrace overlooking the promenade, exudes at first glance the elegance of a fine-dining restaurant. Under the leadership of chef Hrastovčak, whose mentor was the famous chef Heinz Beck, Spinnaker has so far presented itself with two six-course tasting menus – “Istrian Fables” and “Modern Fables”. Even if you were not thinking about the fables, you could try the dishes that reflected the place, the culture, and that highlighted seasonal local ingredients, brought to life with innovative techniques and precise presentation. The charcoal scampi took you straight to haute cuisine. The very fresh summery look of the plate, along with the combination of almonds and apples, is just one example of the former chef’s creativity. And finally, the dessert symphony performed by pastry chef Dragana Kovačević (Gault&Millau Croatia Pastry chef of the year 2024) who also moved to Harry’s Piccolo. The excellently educated personnel are always at your disposal. The wine list focuses on local wine selection, but there is also a rich selection of international labels. The new culinary concept of Spinnaker is a modern fish fine-dining. We believe that it will keep the high level and the position of one of the best restaurants in Istria.
