Gault&Millau's review 2026

The restaurant at the boutique hotel Acacia, located along the main coastal road connecting Opatija and Lovran, offers a blend of traditional and creative cuisine. The selection of fresh fish and seafood depends on the daily catch, and the menu also includes a good variety of steaks. The amuse-bouche is regularly simple yet thoughtful - for example, cream cheese with black truffle and olive oil, served with crispy breadsticks resembling grissini. Two types of olive oil are always on the table: a branded local variety and a homemade one. Among the cold starters, the octopus salad stands out, served in a portion sufficient for two, cooked slightly al dente and perfectly seasoned. The fresh Kvarner scampi tartare is also notable, shaped like an ice cream scoop in a champagne glass. Alongside the classic white fish soup, the rich and creamy scampi soup is worth trying, as are the grilled Kvarner scampi - a generous portion of medium-sized, exceptionally fresh meat radiates sweetness and the scent of the sea. Steaks are grilled over wood charcoal, and their rumpsteak tagliata with grilled vegetables comes highly recommended. With a thin crust on the outside and tender meat inside, it is served with horseradish cream, homemade BBQ sauce, and reduced balsamic vinegar. For dessert, the almond semifreddo with cream and fig jam is worth tasting. The wine list offers a rich selection of labels from across Croatia, with a wide range of prices.
