Gourmet Restaurant
Konoba Stari Podrum is a true gourmet oasis, especially for those who love meat dishes and traditional Istrian cuisine. The tavern is located in a green valley below the Momjan castle, along the Argila River, so the first time you come it may require a bit of searching, maybe even wandering. But when you arrive at your destination, the reward is there: a terrace facing the vineyards, peace, fresh air and the feeling of being far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The interior is warm and cosy, with wood, stone walls and details that we see in similar Istrian taverns. In the colder part of the year the fireplace gives to the space some additional charm and warmth. The menu is based on homemade pasta (fuži, pljukanci, gnocchi), Boškarin meat (autochthonous beef breed) and seasonal ingredients. In the winter season they often offer dishes with game while in summer time you can find on the menu some lighter combinations with vegetables and aromatic herbs from the garden. Try the fuži with the Boškarin sauce! The new thing is that Konoba Stari Podrum offers daily menus, depending on what is fresh, so you can find excellent homemade pašticada (braised beef), veal cheek or fish dishes, when they are available. We couldn’t resist the absolutely fantastic chocolate cake with truffles. If you want to try local wines, the offer is wide: from fresh Malvasia to richer Teran. Table reservations are mandatory and prices are appropriate for the portions and quality.
