Gault&Millau's review 2026

Even the journey to Stori Komin is an adventure. A drive along the old road from Hvar or Stari Grad leads you to a corner of Dalmatia that still resists mass tourism. The village of Malo Grablje was abandoned in the mid 20th century when its inhabitants sought better opportunities elsewhere on Hvar or the mainland. Amid the stone ruins, reminiscent of scenes from a fantasy novel, the Tudor family has created a konoba (tavern) where simple yet exceptional food is enjoyed under a sky filled with stars, enhancing the magical atmosphere. Stori Komin offers a selection of cold starters such as prosciutto, cheeses, and marinated or salted anchovies that perfectly complement the rustic character of the konoba. Main dishes focus on grilled veal and lamb as well as traditional specialties cooked under the peka (baking bell), which must be ordered a day in advance. The charm and uniqueness of this place are hard to surpass even compared to more celebrated destinations on the Adriatic. Guests at Stori Komin leave not only with the flavours of Hvar’s culinary traditions but also with a deep emotional impression of a place where time and stone have crafted a story entirely their own.
