Gault&Millau's review 2026

Taverna Diklo has a long tradition of a local tavern located in a quiet spot right by the coast, with a nice terrace with the view. The interior is simple but warm. This is one of the few restaurants in the area open all year round, frequented by locals, and in season by many foreign tourists. The menu is extensive and, in addition to standard appetizers such as prosciutto and cheese, octopus salad and seafood platter, it includes a range of pastas and risottos, fish and crabs, meat dishes and a rich selection from the grill. It should be noted that they also have a vegetarian menu, which is modest and not particularly creative, but many similar restaurants lack this. We tried several seafood dishes and can recommend all of them. The mussel buzara was very good, but the mussels, unfortunately, were quite small. The black risotto was perfectly cooked, with a generous amount of cuttlefish pieces, creamy, and the portion was enough as an appetizer for two people. The cuttlefish stew, listed on the menu as a warm appetizer, is a powerful dish, with complex flavours and a thick sauce, that could easily be a main course. The Parisian-style scampi, with a light crust of golden brown breading, exuded freshness and the scent of the sea, and were a decent size. As a side dish they serve excellent baked potatoes and a light tartare sauce. The selection of wine, beer and spirits is extensive.
