Surrounded by the vineyards of Croatia’s northernmost region, on the picturesque hill of Železna Gora in Štrigova, restaurant Terbotz was built on the foundations of an old manor that is part of the Jakopić family estate. Winemakers for generations have produced Rhine riesling, sauvignon, yellow muscat, green sylvaner, their črleno (red wine), and many other award-winning labels, also served in the restaurant. A new family boutique hotel is available for the guests.. At Terbotz, tradition and a modern culinary approach come together, harmoniously combined by chef Silvija Horak (G&M Chef of the traditional cuisine 2020) and Amos Novak (G&M Young Talent 2025). In creating dishes that emphasize the natural flavours of the ingredients, they use products from their garden, the forest, and the surrounding area. Seasonal ingredients take centre stage, and the menu changes accordingly. During the autumn Restaurant Week they offered a special menu featuring chicken liver mousse with onion jam, leaf salad with turoš (traditional cow’s cheese) and smoked tongue, trimmed pork tenderloin with vegetables and mushroom sauce, chocolate lava cake, or homemade cookies for dessert. Their Međimurje-style pretepena soup with cured meat and red paprika is famous far and wide. As a starter they offer a cold meat platter with traditional Međimurje cheeses, sausage, and beef tongue. Alongside dinner, guests can also enjoy a guided wine tasting in the cellar.
