Like many hotel restaurants that want to attract outside guests, Tomassino offers simple but attractive Italian dishes at affordable prices. The same is for the prices of the wines from their wine list that you can usually get by the glass. Located in the Sheraton Hotel in Zagreb, Tommasino has a separate entrance from the street. The modern interior is dominated by red tones of the sofas in the booths and the wooden tables with regular seating. The professional and friendly personnel will welcome you with a smile and escort you to your table and they will take care of you throughout the meal. Tomassino is a good choice for a business lunch or a meal during a work break. The menu includes various salads, pastas, risottos and, of course, meat and fish dishes, which change seasonally, although sometimes they use ingredients that are not exactly appropriate for the season. The influence of the famous chef Ivica Štruml, who created the first Tomassino menu, is still felt, as well as the presence of the famous Jeffrey Vella, the corporate chef of all the kitchens of the Maistra group, to which the Zagreb Sheraton belongs. . We ordered a fillet of monkfish in a creamy tonnato sauce of tuna, mayonnaise and capers (like the one in the vitello tonnato dish). The fish was beautifully cooked, juicy with a crispy crust, and the silky sauce enhanced the neutral taste of the monkfish. We also tried a light, attractive warm salad of chicory and prawns. A piece of oblong chicory, like Radicchio Trevigiano, was grilled and served with equally grilled prawns and the dish was decorated with micro lettuce leaves. The flavours of the bitter chicory and the sweet prawn blended beautifully, as did the colours of the dish, which certainly contributed to the appealing presentation. Tomassino is worth a visit.
