Gault&Millau's review 2026

On the northern side of Lastovo lies Zaklopatica Bay, a favourite anchorage for divers and sailors, especially when the strong bora wind blows. It is also a destination for those in search of excellent food, most notably at Restaurant Triton. Founded in 1988 by Tonči Jurica and now run in the kitchen by his son Ljubo, the restaurant focuses on what the island offers best: fresh fish, lobster, scampi, and local vegetables, often grown on the family’s own land. Ljubo’s cooking follows traditional Dalmatian principles, using simple recipes that allow the ingredients to shine. Dishes such as pasta with scampi or lobster, grilled fish, fish carpaccio, and scampi buzara are prepared with olive oil, garlic, tomatoes, and Mediterranean herbs. The menu also includes grilled lamb chops and rump steak, as well as – somewhat surprisingly for an island restaurant – spaghetti with black truffle. The interior is decorated in a relaxed Mediterranean style with subtle nautical touches and is particularly pleasant outside the peak season. In summer, however, the terrace becomes the main attraction: facing west, it offers breathtaking views of the bay and spectacular sunsets.
